Objective of the Scheme

Nikshay Poshan Yojana (NPY) is a Government of India initiative launched in 2018 under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP) to provide nutritional support and financial assistance to Tuberculosis (TB) patients.

The scheme aims to improve TB notification, treatment adherence, and patient health outcomes by offering direct financial incentives to all TB patients notified on the NIKSHAY portal.

The scheme is a vital step towards India's goal of eliminating TB by ensuring timely treatment, tracking of patients, and support during the treatment period.

Benefits of the Scheme

  1. Financial Incentive: ₹500/- per month per notified TB patient
  2. Duration: For the entire anti-TB treatment period
  3. Mode of Payment: Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into the patient’s Aadhaar-linked bank account

Eligibility Criteria

  1. All TB patients notified on or after 1st April 2018 are eligible, including:
    • - New TB patients
    • - Existing TB patients already under treatment
  2. Patient must be registered and notified on the NIKSHAY portal (nikshay.in/)
  3. TB patients from both public and private sectors are eligible

    Steps for Registration and Notification:
  1. Visit the NIKSHAY portal at nikshay.in
  2. Click on “Register”
  3. Provide the following details:
    • - Name, email, and phone number
    • - Healthcare facility information (name and address)
    • - Create a password
  4. Verify your account via the email link received
  5. Log in to the portal after verification
    Steps to Notify a TB Case:
  1. After logging in, click “Notify TB Case”
  2. Enter the patient's:
    • Name, date of birth, and address
    • TB diagnosis details (type of TB, date of diagnosis)
    • Treatment details (start date, type of treatment)
  3. Submit the details
  4. Once verified by authorities, incentive payments will be processed
  5. Note: All TB cases must be notified via the NIKSHAY portal to qualify for the incentive.
